A cell phone thief in Henry County in the United States made a rather cardinal error when he accidentally uploaded a photo of himself to the Facebook page of his victim.  The suspect broke into a vehicle on the 26th of last month at East Lake Academy daycare, which is located in McDonough, and took a purse, which included an old cell phone, before then making a rather foolish decision.

“The suspect apparently took a picture of himself on the victim’s phone and, due to her settings, it automatically uploaded to her Facebook page,” says Henry Police Major Jason Bolton.  At some point in the 12 hours following the theft, the victim checked her Facebook page and was rather surprised to see a face she had not uploaded but did recognize – as the person she saw in a vehicle beside her own car at the daycare center.  “Obviously, this person had no idea that her phone had those settings on it that caused it to automatically upload to Facebook”, Bolton notes.  “I think he’s going to be pretty surprised.”

Anyone who recognizes the identity of the suspect is being asked to call investigators.  “We don’t normally get pictures with this sort of clarity, and it’s just real exciting to have a picture that the quality is this good that we can put out there.”
