{"id":703,"date":"2011-07-25T11:31:58","date_gmt":"2011-07-25T11:31:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/beta.sellcell.com\/blog\/?p=703"},"modified":"2019-04-12T11:08:03","modified_gmt":"2019-04-12T11:08:03","slug":"vodafone-breaks-it-down-for-q1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sellcell.com\/blog\/vodafone-breaks-it-down-for-q1\/","title":{"rendered":"Vodafone Breaks it Down for Q1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sellcell.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/phone7.gif\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-705\" title=\"phone7\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sellcell.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/phone7.gif\" alt width=\"180\" height=\"120\"><\/noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-705 lazyload\" title=\"phone7\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns%3D%22http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg%22%20viewBox%3D%220%200%20180%20120%22%3E%3C%2Fsvg%3E\" alt width=\"180\" height=\"120\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.sellcell.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/phone7.gif\"><\/a>First quarter figures show Vodafone losing 139,000 customers.&nbsp; I was not one of them; I bailed on Vodafone two years ago.&nbsp; But, the highly-popular UK mobile service provider is still going strong despite the loss.&nbsp; Here are the UK figures for the quarter broken down:<br>\n\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Lost 139,000 customers<br>\n\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Added 206,000 new contract customers (down from 245,000 last year)<br>\n\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Churn rate: 16.3 per cent contract, 64.5 per cent pre-pay (the churn rate is the percentage of lost subscribers over a period of time)<br>\n\u2022&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;48 per cent of Vodafone\u2019s customers are pre-pay<br>\nStill, despite the somewhat unattractive numbers, Vodafone revenues went up by 1.7 per cent to \u00a31.215 billion; and this was despite the fact that termination rates were regulated and reduced in April.&nbsp; A lot of the revenue was as a result of data packages and the increased number of customers using smartphones.<br>\nCEO Vittorio Colao said: \u201cWe have made a good start to the year, reporting robust results despite challenging macroeconomic conditions across southern European economies and the impact of cuts to mobile termination rates.&nbsp; Revenue from our key focus areas of data, enterprise and emerging markets continues to grow strongly.&nbsp; With our broad geographical mix and improving market positions, we are well placed for the rest of the financial year.\u201d<br>\nVodafone is ranked as one of the UK\u2019s top mobile service providers.&nbsp; They are also one of the big names currently in the process of improving their in-store customer service.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>First quarter figures show Vodafone losing 139,000 customers.
