{"id":4040,"date":"2012-02-29T14:11:25","date_gmt":"2012-02-29T14:11:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/beta.sellcell.com\/blog\/?p=2633"},"modified":"2019-04-12T11:07:40","modified_gmt":"2019-04-12T11:07:40","slug":"cell-phone-youth-awareness-program-launched-in-monroe-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sellcell.com\/blog\/cell-phone-youth-awareness-program-launched-in-monroe-county\/","title":{"rendered":"Cell Phone Youth Awareness Program Launched in Monroe County"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sellcell.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Phone2.jpg\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2634\" title=\"Phone\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sellcell.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Phone2.jpg\" alt width=\"180\" height=\"120\"><\/noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2634 lazyload\" title=\"Phone\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns%3D%22http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg%22%20viewBox%3D%220%200%20180%20120%22%3E%3C%2Fsvg%3E\" alt width=\"180\" height=\"120\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.sellcell.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Phone2.jpg\"><\/a>Monroe County executive Maggie Brooks yesterday announced the launch of a nationally sponsored awareness campaign which is aimed at educating parents, students and teachers on the healthy, appropriate use of new and old cell phones among the youth population of Monroe County.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb10\">\n<\/p><p>The INOBTR (I Know Better) Program, as it has been christened, is being run in conjunction with the likes of the Monroe County Youth Bureau, The United States Department of Justice Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, the Rochester Institute of Technology, Project Youth Safety, Harvard\u2019s Center for Child\u2019s Media and the iKeepSafe Coalition and Monroe County will pilot the country\u2019s very first Cell Phone Smart Public Awareness Campaign.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb10\">\n<\/p><p>\u201cIn recent years, the lack of cell phone etiquette among our young people had resulted in cyber bullying and unsafe driving practices,\u201d says Brooks.  \u201cSome of these hazardous situations have resulted in alarming and sometimes fatal outcomes.\u201d The campaign will mainly focus on targeting educators via the provision of collateral materials, while its second focus will be on reaching out to students between the ages of 8 to 11 and parents through brochures, radio announcements, cinema and online advertisements and posters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb10\">\n<\/p><p>INOBTR is a non-profit organization which is focused on educating children via public awareness in order to keep them safe.  The iKeepSafe website says that \u201cIt is more important than ever to teach this new generation of cell phone users to be safe and
