Vodacom spokesman Richard Boorman has played down the report, which was published in the scientific journal \u201cReviews on Environmental Health\u201d, and has insisted that the findings are a mistake.  \u201cThere have been thousands of studies into the effects of radio frequency on health,\u201d he says.  \u201cThere is no evidence to convince experts that exposure below the guidelines set by International Commission of Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) carries any health risks for adults or children.\u201d<\/p>\n

The scientists from the Swedish Carolina Institute, however, see things rather differently, believing that they have indeed found evidence of \u201cserious disruptions to biological systems\u201d as a result of wireless devices, including cell phones.  \u201cMany researchers now believe the existing systems are inadequate to protect public health because they do not consider prolonged exposure to lower emission levels that are now widespread,\u201d the panel concluded, recommending that governments immediately lower exposure limits to electromagnetic radiation and for an international registry to be formed to track cancers and other diseases, while Professor Yuri Grigoriev, the Chair of the Russian National Committee on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection has advised children and pregnant women to avoid using cordless and cell phones wherever possible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
