The theme of this year\u2019s campaign is the \u201cR\u201d words that are on everyone\u2019s lips in this day and age \u2013 reduce, reuse, recycle, replenish and renew.  Old cell phones will be the target of the recycling night that is to take place on the twenty third of February, where YMCA is encouraging everyone to come in and donate their used cell phones, which will be placed in a proper cell phone recycling bin.  Other activities planned during the campaign are book exchanges, serving reduced calorie food and using plates, utensils and decorations that are either biodegradable or at least reusable.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur Annual Giving Campaign is our most critical fundraising event of the year,\u201d says the executive director of the Palo Alto YMCA, Scott Glissmeyer.  \u201cAll of the money raised helps us strengthen the community through programs and services that promote youth development, healthy living and social responsibility \u2013 including our Ventura Centre, which develops teens to lead and achieve.  We also give back and support individuals and families with more than three hundred and fifty thousand (dollars) annually for financial assistance to access vital services and programs they otherwise would not be able to afford.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
