Make Life Easier – Four Apps For Hailing A Cab From Your Phone

Whether you are stranded on the side of the road and need a lift, have had one too many drinks at the bar, or simply need to get from Point A to Point B for work or school, finding a taxi is usually an unpleasant experience. In the past, calling various cab companies to find out which one was closest to your location was the only way in which you could save time – and the process of calling different companies could end up actually wasting time.

Hail A Cab

Thankfully though, these days there are several mobile apps on the market, all of which make hailing a cab much easier and more efficient. Below, you’ll find four apps that are helping millions of people do just that.

Partnering with taxi cab drivers all across Australia, GoCatch allows would-be passengers to see in real time where GoCatch-participating taxi cab drivers are. They can then arrange a pick-up in just a couple of taps. The driver gets a notification, which alerts them where to pick you up – all the while, you can see where they are, too, so you will always be ready when they arrive. If you have any questions, you can even call the taxi cab driver directly from the app. GoCatch is a free app and can be download through both iTunes and the Android Marketplace.

Taxi Cabs USA

Regardless of where you live in the United States, Taxi Cabs USA is a great way to find any and every taxi company in your area and make arrangements for a ride. While the app is not as versatile as GoCatch, it does allow you to find a cab company in as little as three taps: select your state, city and tap the desired company to then call them. Toll free dialling options are also available when using the national cab view, as all cab companies with toll free numbers are listed. Some smaller towns are not yet listed, but the app overall is a solid one and can be found on the Android Marketplace.

In larger cities such as New York, London, Moscow and Jerusalem, GetTaxi can provide you with an interactive experience when it comes to finding a taxi. Using GetTaxi, you can track all nearby taxis, reserve one in the app via credit card and track its progress to your location. GetTaxi is also consistently used by travellers to get to and from the airport, since it is a straightforward, efficient app when it comes to traveling from one place to another. The average response time for a person using GetTaxi is just over three minutes, so what are you waiting for? This app is available for iOS, Android and Blackberry at no cost.

Hail A Cab

Currently operating in beta mode in metropolitan areas of Texas, Hail A Cab will find the closest taxi cab to you and can even allow for advance booking to an airport or special restaurant – just pay with your credit and debit card and have a taxi cab waiting for you when you need it. You can see the real-time location of your selected taxi, as well as avoid any inclement weather and waiting on the street for a taxi driver. This app is available on Android and iOS and is 100% free.
