The next generation of the legendary console ready to drop at any moment. Let’s take a look at the best places to sell your PS4 to make space in your gaming rig (and some cash, too!)

The PlayStation 5 is, excitingly, just around the corner. So, you may well be looking to sell your PS4. That way, you can make a space in your home theater set-up for your new console. Not only that, but you can also make a bit of money to spend on next-gen games. Or even the new console itself!

The PS5 has been rumored for release on November 14th by Twitter user IronManPS5. This is, they say, the Japanese release date. North America and Europe will likely follow a week or so later.

But, what is the best place to sell your old PlayStation? Well, we’ve rounded up a whole bunch of places that can assist in your console spring clean. There are plenty of options available to you. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at where you can sell your PS4.

SellCell.com

If you want to offload your PS4 (or, in fact, any other PlayStation console/ handheld going right back to PS2) then SellCell.com offers a fantastic service. Why? Because you can compare the market and find the best price for trading in your device. Selling your PS4 to a recognized vendor is safe and takes the inconvenience out of selling a device. You don’t have to put up with reneging buyers or “tire kickers”, either.

Whether you have a PlayStation 4, PS4 Slim, or PS4 Pro, you can check the sale value of all models. By using SellCell’s PS4 selling service, you can be assured you are getting the most bang for your buck; you’ll get the best value for money if you shop around for buyers. You can see a wide range of buyers here. Also, selling this way is as simple as getting your best price and sending your device off. Easy as pie!

Not only that, but this is currently the safest way to sell your PS4 in terms of hygiene. Contact with other people is minimal so reduces the risk of you catching COVID-19. In actual fact, you’ll potentially only need to speak to one person and that is the assistant at your postal service of choice. Most buyers include free shipping for you. Win-win!

Shpock

Shpock is a shopping brand that allows you to buy and sell items locally. It is available as an app from both the Google Play and Apple App stores. The app essentially works like the “classified” section in your local newspaper. It will allow you to sell your PS4 to a local buyer or, if you wish, to send it in the post. Obviously, this incurs a cost.

Sellers should note that there isn’t a great deal in terms of protection with this kind of marketplace. Buyers are (generally) required to visit your home, so an element of trust is needed before inviting them to your door. Plus, selling locally limits your options a bit in terms of how many potential buyers you can reach.

Gamestop

If you would like to sell in person, rather than via an app, then Gamestop is a good option. With Gamestop, you can sell your PS4 for store credit to buy the PS5 when it is released. You can generally get a little bit more value for your devices if you take store credit rather than cash when you sell. Although this isn’t always the case as their cash value for the PS4 is currently the same as their store credit value.

If you do decide to sell to a physical store, ensure that you are following social distancing rules. Don’t forget to wear your face mask, as we have a pandemic on our hands right now. This is the problem with visiting a physical store right now, so be careful if Gamestop is your buyer of choice.

eBay

Another useful way to sell your PS4 online can be eBay. Pretty much everyone knows eBay by now. It is a very comprehensive marketplace. Sellers have lots of options to customize their listing and make it stand out from the crowd. However, this can be a time-consuming, complicated affair. If you aren’t used to selling this way, it can be confusing.

Selling via auction also doesn’t guarantee you a price. Rather, you are hoping you’ll get the price you want for your old PS4. There is no guarantee it will even sell. However, as auction sites go, eBay and their payment partner, PayPal, offers some of the best seller protection around.

Amazon Trade-In

If you fancy popping a bit more of your hard-earned dollar into the pockets of Jeff Bezos, then you could try Amazon Trade-In. You can access it via the regular Amazon site. It works in a similar way to Gamestop’s store credit. You trade in your PS4 and Amazon will give you a gift voucher to spend, well, on Amazon.

If you do want to sell your PS4 and buy a PS5 straight away, then this may be a good option. Just ensure you’re getting the best price for your PS4 or you’ll find yourself out of pocket. It is best to shop around, which is why comparing buyers can often be a better option.

The Best Place to Sell Your PS4

There is no doubt that there are lots of places to sell PS4. However, having a bunch of buyers dropped in your lap is undoubtedly the best way. Especially if they are in order of most value. That way you know you’re getting the most money for your device.

With this in mind, PlayStation selling sites like SellCell should be your first port of call. You can check buyers’ trust ratings. It allows you to compare how long it takes for you to receive payment from the buyer. It even links you straight to the buyer you want to use! You can sell all PlayStation models including PS3, PS2, Vita, and PSP.
