Ghana Imports Excess Amount of Old Cell Phones

Ghana is importing an excess amount of old cell phones and other forms of electronic waste, according to the Ghana Shippers Authority. The Authority has released figures which show that that 31,400 metric tons of electronic waste, including but not limited to old cell phones, was imported into the country in 2010 alone.

Used Cell Phone Failure

Users of new or old cell phones associated with Vodafone found themselves without a signal in Calcutta on Sunday. The company claims the failure in service was due to an entirely normal and planned upgrade in their services, but that loss of signal was not notified to customers, who were decidedly unimpressed to find themselves without a cell phone service for more than five consecutive hours.
